Protected Structures, Naturally Ventilated Buildings, Energy Efficient Lighting, Phase 1 of Campus Development, Specialist Photographic Lighting and Dark Rooms.
This project involved the refurbishment and redevelopment of six historic, protected structures at Grangegorman, totalling 8,000m2, from their former hospital use into new educational facilities for Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT).
As part of an Architect Led Integrated Design Team, Ethos Engineering were successfully appointed as the Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers responsible for the M&E services development of the existing buildings to bring the existing six buildings into the 21st Century. As part of this project we were challenged with providing new state of the art services into protected and listed buildings.
The buildings are now home to over 1,000 DIT students of Creative Arts, Social Science and Photography, as well as to DIT Campus Planning, Student Services including restaurant, library, student union, Research, the Office of the President, the DIT Foundation and the GDA.
Ethos input to this project included the complete strip out and refurbishment of the following systems:
Low Pressure Hot Water Heating Installation
