Project Description
The project includes multiple data centres with associated electrical rooms and support spaces, totaling 71MW of critical IT load on a greenfield site. Development is phased and includes expansion of substation infrastructure. An administration block and RMC are also included, with the RMC serving as a control monitoring HUB for other data centres in the EMEA region.
Ethos Input
Ethos provided full M&E design services for the data centre project, including Construction Administration support, master-planning, and commissioning oversight. The services were developed to LOD 300 and transferred to the main contractor for completion. Ethos was appointed as a direct client appointment to manage and control the commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing of the new facility, ensuring an intimate knowledge of the building’s functionality and design basis.
Unique / Key Features
The cooling is achieved by an all-air cooling system, utilising air side economisers (outside air) to cool the server and electrical spaces, with some areas (MDF and Battery Rooms) having additional DX cooling provided. The project also involved infrastructure extension and resilience, in relation to site MV supplies and connection to other telecoms infrastructure, including a highly resilient telecoms network and development of the site in pairs of buildings.
