Westwood Student Accommodation

Project Description

This project involved the redevelopment of the existing structure of the Westwood Hotel in Galway to accommodate 394 student beds across 63 apartments with various layouts to create 4, 5 6, 7, and 8 bed clusters to serve students studying in local colleges and universities in the area. The development totals 11,876m2 over 5 stories and includes facilities such as a café/restaurant, a tv/cinema room, gaming pods, study areas, laundry facilities, a lounge, and a gym.

During the summer and a short period around Christmas, a total of 20 weeks in the year, the apartments will be available for tourists to rent out short term

Unique / Key Features

The building services will include a centralised heating system incorporating heat pumps and Heat Interface Units within the apartment clusters. The project achieved a BER A Rating.
