Project Description:
Genzyme Corporation is one of the world’s leading biotech manufacturer. With over 70 locations in 30 countries but has continually invested in its facility in Ireland. We were involved in various phases the expansion.

Car Park:
145 new car park extension to existing car park to facilitate expansion of the Genzyme site.

Inspection Building:
The Inspection building is capable of housing Automatic Inspection Machines, Semi-Automatic Inspection machines, Pre-Filled Syringes Inspection machines and a dedicated inspection area for Media Fills. There are also some support, office and ancillary areas being provided as part of the new Inspection building. All of the rooms within the Inspection building (excluding Plant areas) are classified as ‘Controlled Not Classified’ (CNC). CNC spaces have been designed to be cleanable with controlled access and served with filtered conditioned air.

Pen Assembly:
The Pen Assembly building is capable of housing 2 No. Pen Assembly lines. The Pen Assembly lines consists of De-palletisers, Pen assembly machines, Inspection, Labelling and Pelletiser machines, Pallet lay down areas and Work Stations.

All of the rooms within the Pen assembly building (excluding Plant areas) are classified as ‘Controlled Not Classified’ (CNC). CNC spaces have been designed to be cleanable with controlled access and served with filtered conditioned air.

Administration Building:
The floor outlined for fit out was the fourth (top) floor of an existing 4 storey Administration building. Level 4 was an unoccupied fallow space left empty and configured for a future fit out. Ethos were involved in the modification of the existing mechanical and electrical services to accommodate the new layout for Genzyme. The new layout principally comprises of open plan areas with the addition of some cellular offices, meeting rooms, toilets, and ancillary areas. Modifications and connections to existing services were required as part of the works.

Component Testing Labs:
The Component Testing Lab is within an occupied office space on the ground floor of the existing Genzyme facility. The Component Testing Lab will be an Environmental Zone 1 non classified area and will house specialised testing equipment such as Test robots, Dispensing Liquid Weighing (IMA) test robots and an Optical Comparator. There are existing mechanical & electrical services serving this space which will be altered to suit the new architectural layout. In order to keep the adjoining office areas operational for period of construction of new Component Testing Lab, there was a demolition and enabling works package prepared which limited downtime of these areas.
