Project Description:
Element Six is a global leader in the design, development, and production of synthetic diamond and tungsten carbide super materials and is part of the De Beers Group. Their primary manufacturing sites are located in the UK, Ireland, Germany, South Africa, and the US. Their materials are used in cutting and grinding applications in a wide range of industries.

Project Maya involved the installation of industrial diamond presses for primary and secondary manufacturing processes with ancillary support spaces at Element 6, Shannon, Co. Clare. The Element 6 site is located in Shannon Free Zone West and is bounded to the west by the airport and road frontage to the east.

This redevelopment project created a manufacturing facility to process PCBN, PCD and Amborite. The process involves the synthesis of raw materials in a clean, stable pre-manufacturing environment prior to placing in a high pressure press, with grinding, testing and finishing the final product taking place in a post synthesis space.

The presses were located in a high bay portal with crane and pits. A dedicated pre-synthesis space provided enclosed, clean working spaces including some rooms with a cleanroom environment is required as part of the pre-manufacturing process.
