Project Description
DUB04 is the launch building on a new Campus for this client in Grange Castle, Dublin. The facility consists of 4 x 7.5MW COLOs, associated electrical support rooms (electrical rooms, MDF rooms, MV rooms, etc.). A 110kV substation with capacity to support the full campus demand of 90MW was also developed in this phase of the development.
Ethos Input
Ethos are providing full Mechanical and Electrical design services for the project’s initiation from RIBA Stage 3 to Stage 4.
Unique / Key Features
The electrical support rooms are prefabricated pods manufactured off site and positioned externally for an accelerated construction programme. The cooling was achieved by a highly efficient DX cooling technology, utilising evaporative cooling to cool the server spaces. The project also involved infrastructure extension and resilience, in relation to site MV supplies and connection to other telecoms infrastructure.
A modular solution was developed utilising external prefabricated electrical rooms with generators mounted overhead to provide an efficient power distribution design that was repeatable across the facility and ultimately across the campus.
The initial phase of the site development also involved the development of a 4-Transformer Bay 110KV Substation and a Gas plant to meet the utility requirements for flexible demand management.
