EdgeConneX DUB01 & DUB02

Project Description

EDCDUB01 consists of 2 units of 5MW COLOs, 2 units of 4MW COLOs and associated electrical support rooms (electrical rooms, MDF rooms, MV rooms, etc.).

EDCDUB02 consists of a 3MW data centre facility in Grange Castle. With the project now completed, the two combined facilities have a total IT load of 21MW.

Ethos Input

Ethos Engineering was engaged by BCEI as part of the design team, which has taken this project from concept design through to detailed design.

As part of the mechanical and electrical deliverables, Ethos Engineering have been commissioned to provide the design through BIM. Revit MEP has also been used for this project. The M&E services were developed to LOD 300 and transferred over to the main contractor to complete throughout the project. Ethos Engineering provided full electrical design services and construction administration support.

Unique / Key Features

The electrical support rooms are prefabricated pods manufactured off site and positioned externally for an accelerated construction programme. The cooling was achieved by an highly efficient DX cooling technology, utilising evaporative cooling to cool the server spaces. The project also involved infrastructure extension and resilience, in relation to site MV supplies and connection to other telecoms infrastructure.

A modular solution was developed utilising external prefabricated electrical rooms with generators mounted overhead to provide an efficient power distribution design that was repeatable across the facility, and helped spread the IT load to 21MW across facilities.
