Project Description

The project is situated on a greenfield site, within the Grange Castle campus and involved the design and construction of 4 data centre buildings with a total IT capacity of 71MW.

The project also involved the master planning of the campus for future expansion, along with the design and construction of a 160MVA 110kV/20kV substation.

Ethos Input

Upon successful design completion of works to previous client projects on an adjacent campus, Ethos Engineering were retained and appointed as Mechanical and Electrical design consultants for the master planning of the next phases of the development and the detailed design of the initial phases of the campus.

The role included the master planning of the site for future development with a projected critical load of 160MW. The primary infrastructure, including a 110kV substation, has been completed for the site.

Unique / Key Features

The cooling was achieved by an all-air cooling system, utilising air side economisers (outside air) to cool the server and electrical spaces. MDF rooms had additional DX cooling provided.

The telecoms network is also highly resilient and drove the requirement to develop the site in pairs of buildings.
