Project Description:
An 8-phase 32MW building in the Kelsterbach region of Frankfurt. The building includes high-efficiency evaporative cooling, incorporating a waste-water recovery and treatment plant.
Central Photovoltaics are provided to ensure that the average power demand from the office area can be offset by the renewable energy produced from the panels. The project meets with the requirements for the new EnEfG rules, achieving an annualised PUE<1.20, and incorporates provision for waste heat recovery.
Ethos Input:
Ethos Engineering were commissioned for the full mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering services. Permitting and site support have been provided by our localisation partner ZWP.
Unique Key Features:
The water usage associated with evaporative cooling typically places a high burden on the utility water demand during peak summer periods. This had to be minimised on this project, and we are able to maintain acceptable environmental conditions within the data halls utilising less than 8l/s of water for 32MW of IT cooling.
The project incorporates the recovery of rooftop rainwater, which is stored from winter periods in underground tanks. Blowdown from evaporative coolers is treated and reused in the evaporative cooling system. These water sources contribute to greatly reduce the water demand on site.
